Dr. Menke was gracious enough to respond to our questions below!

Can you please tell our readers what you do for a living?

We treat pathology of the foot, ankle, and lower leg. I studied neuroscience at Emory then decided to go into podiatric medicine, which I studied at Temple.  From there I decided to focus on surgical skills and spent 3 years at Dekalb Medical Center Residency (Emory), training under some of the most renowned surgeons in the country. I’ve had the pleasure of learning from some of the pioneers in my field, have lectured across the country, and been published in the main podiatric textbook.

How long have you lived in the Lake Country region?

About 7 years!

Where are you originally from?

Buffalo, NY, then Atlanta, prior to moving to the Lake.

What do you enjoy most about living here?

The peacefulness, the beauty, and the sense of “small town” community.

Where is your favorite place to eat in the region?

I enjoy quality time with my nieces on “Taco Tuesday’s” when they get out of school!

Do you have any hobbies?

We enjoy offshore boating, traveling, football games, and spending time with family (parents live in Greensboro as well) and our 4 dogs (pitbull, Yorkie, English bulldog, and French bulldog).

Who are some of your inspirations in life?

My parents. They brought my brother and I up in a family centered around faith, family (love) and a good work ethic. We grew up in a small town though they taught us to dream big. They taught us to work hard, treat others with kindness and generosity and to enjoy life.

What does a healthy day look like for you?

Early workout with my best friend to get energy for the day, a full schedule of interesting patients, followed by dinner with friends and family, or sitting out back with my husband by the lake or pool.
