In this week’s Personality Profile, we feature Kara Fuller, co-owner of the wonderful Bone Island Grillhouse and Mattress By Appointment. Kara’s businesses are also new supporters of Lake Oconee Health. We’re excited to have her on board!
LOH: Can you please tell our readers what you do for a living?
Kara: I own Bone Island Grillhouse and Mattress By Appointment with my two brothers, Ryan and Jody Winfield, here at Lake Oconee.
LOH: How long have you lived in the Lake Country region?
Kara: I moved to Covington, Georgia in 2007. In early 2012, I made the move to Lake Oconee. Best decision by far! Great community!
LOH: Where are you originally from?
Kara: I was born and raised in upstate New York—Cortland, NY.
LOH: What do you enjoy most about living here?
Kara: There is a calmness here. The lake brings me peace.
LOH: Where is your favorite place to eat in the region?
Kara: Having been in the restaurant business for so many years, my preference is a good family BBQ in my backyard with family and friends.
LOH: Who are some of your inspirations in life?
Kara: My parents Nancy and Larry Winfield. They raised 8 children and taught us that effort equals reward. Anything worth having takes work and perseverance. The rewards can be endless.
LOH: Do you have any hobbies?
Kara: I love to read. I do not have much time for it, but when I can squeeze it in, it’s one of my favorite things to do.
LOH: What does a healthy day look like for you?
Kara: Multitasking, between the restaurant and the mattress store, I am always busy. I am fortunate to have an awesome team who help make things happen.
LOH: Anything else you’d like the readers to know about yourself or living in the Lake Country region?
Kara: I’m thankful. It has been so inspiring to see the small businesses supported and encouraged by the residents of our lake community throughout this past year. Businesses supporting other businesses is something you do not see often enough. Lake Oconee should be proud!
