Staying Active, Healthy, and On the Move in Lake Country

Retirement at the lake is meant to be peaceful, invigorating, and most importantly—pain-free. Whether you’re playing golf, rallying on the tennis court, or simply enjoying a scenic walk, orthopedic health plays a vital role in keeping you moving with ease.

Our providers here at ROSI recommend the following: prioritizing  joint health, mobility, and injury prevention tailored specifically for active retirees.

Question:  What are your top orthopedic tips for retirees who want to stay active without pain?

Answer: Prioritize mobility! That means staying flexible, maintaining a healthy weight, and doing low-impact exercises like swimming or cycling. Mobility exercises—especially those that focus on hip and knee flexibility—can help reduce stiffness and preserve range of motion.

Balance is another major factor. As we age, our risk of falling increases, and poor balance is often to blame. Practicing simple balance drills, such as standing on one foot while brushing your teeth, can build stability over time.

Lastly, don’t ignore persistent pain. Many people assume joint discomfort is just part of aging, but early intervention—whether that’s physical therapy or non-surgical treatment—can keep you active longer.
